Jaguar.

I know that he’s on the phone and he’s just threatened Eagle by the sound of things. Once Eagle ends the call, I wait for him to say something, but he doesn’t. He just drives toward the restaurant, his hand dropping the phone before his fingers wrap around the middle of my thigh.

Looking from his hand, then up to his profile, I watch him for a moment. “Are you going to pretend that didn’t happen?” I ask.

He grunts, licking his lips before he speaks. “Nothin’ you need to worry about, nena.”

My brows furrow and my mouth turns down into a frown. It sounded like a ‘really needed to worry about,’ but I don’t try to pry any more information out of him. There’s no sense in badgering him. I know these men, they don’t respond well to any kind of prying or nagging at all.

Eagle pulls into the restaurant parking lot and shifts the truck into park, but doesn’t turn the engine off immediately. I sink my teeth into my bottom lip as I shift my gaze over to him, waiting to see what he’s going to say next.

He lifts his hand from my knee, cupping my cheek as his thumb slides over my bottom lip, tugging it from my teeth’s grasp. His eyes follow the path as he licks his own lips. He inhales a deep breath then releases it in a whoosh.

“He won’t hurt me and he definitely won’t hurt you, if that’s what you’re worried about. He’ll be cooled down by the time he gets home. Knew he’d be pissed when he discovered this. It’ll be all good, mi corazon, don’t worry, yeah?”

“Santiago,” I exhale.

He shakes his head, leaning forward slightly. His lips touch mine in just a slight brush and I feel his breath wash over my face when he doesn’t move away immediately. “Trust your man, Della. I’m going to take care of you and our baby.”

“Our?” I gasp.

He grunts, his mouth touching mine, but he doesn’t kiss me, instead he speaks. “Yeah, ours. Baby’s gonna have my last name. Baby’s mine, don’t matter who planted it inside of you, that kid’s mine. You’re mine.”

I lift my hand, wrapping my fingers around his wrist at the side of my face, as my eyes flutter closed and I press my mouth hard against his. He growls, his fingers flexing and digging deeper into my flesh as I run my tongue along the seam of his lips.

His tongue responds almost immediately and I let out a long moan as he takes over the kiss. I don’t know how long we stay there, his fingers digging into my skin, his tongue fucking my mouth, his other hand gripping the steering wheel, probably the only way he can control himself from taking this, taking us, farther in this moment, in the front of his single cab pickup truck.

Santiago rips his mouth from mine, we’re both panting, our eyes locked in on one another’s. He licks his lips and my gaze dips down to watch before I lift it back up to meet his.
